Set up

Academically bound visually impaired students are mainstreamed into the general education classroom with their sighted peers.  They will receive pull-out Braille instruction from an on-site teacher of the visually impaired and other services like Orientation & Mobility (O&M), Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, Adapted Physical Education, as stated in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Homework

Homework from the general education teacher is sent home on Monday and is expected to be completed and returned on Friday.  Please see their general education teacher’s website for more details.

Collaboration

Considering there is only 6 hours of school versus 18 hours at home, we strongly encourage and ask for parent involvement.  Like every child, high expectations and consistency are necessary for our VI students.  They have the capabilities of being independent, life long learners so responsibility starts now!

Attendance

If a student is absent, please call the classroom the morning of or send a note explaining the reason for the absence when the student returns.  The student will be responsible for any missed work.

Contact Information
