Notebook Requirements

I am requesting that students in room 28 bring to school each day a 3 ring binder (1 ˝ inch wide spine) with a spiral bound notebook and 3 separate plastic pocket folders (heavy duty ones are available at Staples office supply) attached inside.

The SPIRAL BOUND NOTEBOOK should be at the front of the binder.  Following literature appreciation, students will be required to copy the day’s homework assignments from the “homework board” into his/her spiral bound notebook.

The heading for the first folder should read HOMEWORK HANDOUTS AND COMPLETED HOMEWORK.  In this section students should place any handouts that are needed to complete the day or week’s homework.  Examples include math worksheets, spelling lists and worksheets, and reading record sheets.  Completed homework assignments should be placed back into this folder.  This should cut down on those wild and frenzied searches for assignments when they are collected the following morning!

The second folder should be titled CORRECTED PAPERS AND NOTICES.  This is pretty much self-explanatory.  Notices are anything the office wants sent home.

The final folder should be titled OTHER SUBJECTS.  In this folder I will ask students to place anything that I want them to have immediately available.  Examples include sheets containing math basic facts, a copy of the cursive alphabet, maybe a sheet on the metric system of measurement, or even this sheet.

Hopefully, this guide will allow your child to have a neat and organized notebook and help him/her “stay on top of things!”
