Each May, we conduct a Roundup for the next year’s kindergarten students. These dates are published in the school communicator. Students must be 5 years old on or by December 2nd of the next school year to attend kindergarten.

Inter-district permits to attend Hickory School if you do not live within the city of Torrance must be renewed annually.

Permits can be denied if there is a lack of progress by students, chronic absenteeism, tardies, and/or behavioral problems exist.

Open enrollment/intra-district permits are for students who live in Torrance but not in the Hickory attendance area. Once this type of permit is granted, Hickory becomes the home school and nothing else needs to be done year after year.

The TUSD Special Services Office takes applications for both these types of permits in March each year.
